Does XBOX 360 HD DVD DVD upconversion?

I was wondering if I buy the HD DVD add on for the 360 will I be able to watch the DVD standard as HD through to conversion. I know the Toshiba HD DVD player does, but what about the Xbox 360 add on? And how is the video quality? I connected my 360 to a monitor Samsung Widescreen 1650 x 1050 with VGA cable.

You can never watch regular DVD in the true "high definition" but a good upscaling player will embellish. Just not as good as an HD-DVD or Blu Ray. I think the 360 will add on top of range, but only through the VGA connection.
